Palestine speakers call on DCU to join boycott
The current situation in Palestine was brought to life on March 20 in DCU as two Palestinian academics spoke to a crowd of students and lecturers.
The pair called on DCU for an academic boycott of Israel.
Ala Abu Dheer & Saed J Abu-Hijleh from the An-Najah University in Nablus explained the reasons behind the proposed boycott.
The pair cited Israel’s destruction of schools and universities as well as the harassment of academics and students as examples of the denial of the universal right to education.
Such a boycott involves non-cooperation or collaboration with Israeli academic institutions, and a postponment on grants or subsidies on both a national and international level.
