Ladies GAA hope for a repeat of last season’s success

These are exciting times for DCU Ladies Gaelic football club. One of the most prominent and successful clubs on campus, 2009 was the year that put ladies GAA on the map in DCU. 104 registered members, two All-Ireland titles and 9 national All-Stars - not a bad year’s work. Undertaking the mammoth task of hosting of the 2010 national intervarsity competition, DCU look forward to defending their All-Ireland crowns on their home turf next March.
Currently the club has both a senior and intermediate side catering for all abilities with both teams training on Monday and Wednesday evenings in St Clare’s Sports Grounds. Games generally take place on Wednesday afternoons. Fixtures can sometimes involve long distance journeys to colleges all around the country with the possibility of a few drinks on the journey home to help the time pass!
League fixtures for the coming season have been confirmed and are as follows:

Tuesday November 3 IT Sligo v DCU
Wednesday November 11 QUB v DCU
Tuesday November 24 DCU v UUJ
Tuesday February 2 Quarter-Finals
Wednesday February 17 Semi-Finals
Thursday February 25 Final

With all the fixtures in place we will be hoping for a repeat of last year’s great achievements and more. The club is open to everyone, whether you play inter-county football, club football or if you are just going for the craic.
