Moyna and his analysis of DCU’s match against local rivals

Speaking after the game DCU manager, Niall Moyna, said he was very happy with the outcome of the game.

Moyna described the match as a “Typical Sigerson cup game, a very tight game.” He said that this type of game will stand to his team in the future, saying “bring them on.” Moyna was also full of praise for his defence saying that they were “very, very good against the quality of the opposition.”

Overall Moyna believed that both sides had periods of domination in the game. Asked about the second goal, Moyna replied that “Lady Luck was on our side and you take these breaks in championship football.”

He said that DCU deserved to win the game due to the fact that they created the better opportunities.

These thoughts were shared by full-back Dermot Sheridan who said he was “delighted to get out of the game with a win” and that as the competition progresses the team would hope to “improve on all aspects of the game.”

However doubt was cast over the availability of Cavan stars Seanie Johnston and Ronan Flanagan for the crunch tie against CIT.

Moyna said that Johnston took a “bad knock on the elbow” and it remains to be seen if he will recover in time for the encounter against the reigning champions.

The news about Ronan Flanagan was more upbeat as it is believed he sustained a bad leg injury but should be fit to face Cork IT.
