The best brands for plus size clothing

If you’re on the curvy side, you may feel that a lot of brands aren’t targeting you and providing for the plus size demographic. However, there is plenty of retailers who are becoming more diverse and size-inclusive.

Even the Queen of R&B has set up her own inclusive lingerie line which caters to plus size men and women. She was recently praised for featuring plus size model Steven G for the launch of the latest Savage x Fenty collection.

In Ireland, Simplybe.ie and Tempted.ie solely cater to plus size women which is amazing to see and hugely important for addressing the skinny Minnie narrative which takes up our Insta feeds too much.

SimplyBe was one of the first major plus size brands in Ireland and is based in Dublin. According to SimplyBe, they “are not one size fits all” which is a very empowering mantra for people when they’re scrolling through social media.

The importance of body positivity and the ability to feel confident in yourself cannot be overstated. SimplyBe are an affordable online fashion retailer who clothe women from size 12-32. They sell dresses, jeans, coats and jackets, skirts, lingerie accessories leisure wear and clothes for every occasion.

Tempted.ie have a physical shop in Raheny, Dublin as well as an amazing website. They cater to the fashion-conscious Irish woman from size 16-28. Tempted also have a blog to make customers aware of the latest news and offers available. They stock a wide range of tops, knitwear, jeans, skirts, dresses, coats and sleepwear.

Of course, men are catered for too. Kingsize.ie was set up in 2010 and is Ireland’s self-proclaimed big and tall menswear retailer. They own two shops in Dublin and Galway.

They stock casual wear up to 8xl, shirts up to 21” neck, trouser up to 64” and jeans and suits up to 70” chest. Kingsize also offer a magnificent footwear range and stock shoes from size 12 to 16.

BigDude.ie and MrBigMan.com are also great plus size men’s retailers right on our doorstep. Big Dude Clothing stock all the essentials from size 2XL to 8XL and brands such as Lambretta, Mish Mash and their own Big Dude collection. Mr BIG MAN based in Cork stock “large size fashionable clothing for the larger man” according to their Facebook page.

They stock sizes 1xl to 8xl in casual and dressy trendy wear. Customers can avail of free delivery if they spend over €100 online.

As well as these brands, Littlewoods Ireland, Ireland’s largest online department store provide quality, affordable plus size clothing for curvy men and women.

Tv presenter Nadine Reid is a plus size model and brand ambassador of Littlewoods and features on their current ad campaign.

Nadine recently launched her own edit collection with the brand which include statement pieces, neutrals, cosy knitwear and coats for the Autumn and Winter season.
