DCU Derby: Pats claim victory over Glasnevin

Pats clinch 1 point win over Glasnevin in Electric Ireland League Final.

St Pats managed to clinch their way to victory on Monday of last week on St. Pats campus in the Higher Ed GAA Electric Ireland League final. A late point from Oran Mulvaney brought the St. Pats side to victory in dramatic fashion. At full time the score was 2-19(25) to 4-12(24) in favor of St. Pats.

St. Pats vs Glasnevin is truly a rivalry where the overarching banner of DCU goes clean out the window and the battle for bragging rights gets under way with a particularly competitive streak. However this year the DCU derby was set alight with even more fire with the two teams facing off in a final.

Pats had a more than comfortable amount of breathing room come half time, 0-14 to 1-03(6). Leading by 8 points before the whistle. Glasnevin must have had some half time talk as in the third quarter of the game they managed to bring themselves almost level with pats with only two points separating the two teams before the water break of the second half. Soon after they brought themselves level with Pats with little time remaining on the clock.

Glasnevin had an opportunity to take the lead themselves,  but unfortunately it was put wide. From the circumstantial kick off Pats worked the ball up the pitch to the aforementioned Oran Mulvaney who, with the last effort of the night, slotted it over the bar to win it all.

So after a thrilling match on St. Pats campus, the home side takes the victory over Glasnevin and with that, the honor of raising the trophy. Pats not only won themselves a final and a trophy, but also some potent bragging rights which will surely be used.
