From the findings of the report, they have urged policymakers to prioritise transition planning at an earlier stage within the post-primary school life-cycle for young people with intellectual disabilities (ID).
The Mental Health Commission requested €9 million from the Department of Justice to commence the new service in 2019, but Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan confirmed that €3 million would go towards the initiative.
